GoPro announced today that it will soon roll out new firmware for the HERO4 Black & Silver cameras. This will enhance their photography and video capabilities.
The camera will be equipped with a time-lapse mode for still photos. This will allow the camera to take still photos over time, then merge the images into one video. The existing firmware already has a time-lapse feature, but users will need to use GoPro’s desktop software to convert the sequence of images into video.
A new burst-photo mode will be available that allows you to take 30 photos in 6 seconds instead of one quick burst.
Auto-rotation is another feature that both cameras will have. Auto-rotation is a feature that detects the orientation of your camera, and will automatically rotate the resulting photos/videos in the right orientation (e.g. You can flip your camera upside-down to capture video.
Black edition HERO4s will get some additional features in the video department. For slow motion shots and sweet slow motion, you can capture 720p at 60fps.
The new firmware update is expected to arrive in the first half 2015
