Martin Corullon (an architect and urban planner) founded the office in Sao Paulo in 2000. He holds a degree from Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de Sao Paulo. It had Guilherme Wisnik, Rodrigo Cervino as its partners until 2017. Gustavo Cedroni was an architect and urban planner who graduated from Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado in 2002. He joined the firm’s staff and became a partner in 2007. This position he still holds to this day. The office has enjoyed a successful partnership with Paulo Mendes da Rocha (an architect Martin has worked with since 1994) over the 22-year period. This has resulted in projects like Cais das Artes, Vitoria, Espirito Sante.
The production process involves different projects and different areas. As architects, they are skilled at detail and technical rigor. They also design custom tiles and furniture for commercial, residential, and cultural buildings. Metro has been in operation for more than 20 years and has created pieces of furniture and other objects that are part of every project. These items can now be gathered for serial production.
Metro’s architects are passionate about promoting the shared use of space, with a significant production of cultural buildings and projects. The firm has partnered closely with the City of Sao Paulo on projects like Centro Aberto and Ocupa Rua. They also work with large clients like Bienal de Arte de Sao Paulo and Natura. These companies design everything from small shops to temporary exhibitions to museums, teaching areas, and theaters.
Gustavo and Martin, the partners, also had experience abroad in offices like Foster+Partners where Martin worked from 2008 to 2009 and OMA where Gustavo worked from 2012 to 2012. The firm also has articles and publications in magazines like Monolito and Foster+Partners, where Martin worked between 2008 and 2009, and OMA, where Gustavo worked in 2012.
